Born in Sydney, Australia to Czech parents, I started out as a news reporter before switching to travel and lifestyle. Since then I’ve worked across a variety of titles, as senior feature writer, food editor, editor, and columnist.
I’ve been based in Dubai on and off since 2008, when I edited Time Out’s travel guidebook series and quarterly destination magazines, Time Out Muscat and Time Out Doha. I have also edited luxury travel magazine, Destinations of the World News, and worked as a project editor for Condé Nast Traveller and World Traveller magazine.
In Australia, my editorial roles included senior feature writer at Cosmopolitan, food editor at GQ, and nearly four years as a columnist for Sydney’s Wentworth Courier newspaper. I also worked at Australian Traveller magazine, both as project editor and as acting editor.
Travel is not simply a passion. I am a travel writer at heart, widely published in The Sydney Morning Herald, Condé Nast Traveller, World Traveller, The Age, The Sun-Herald, CNN Traveller, The Australian Travel & Indulgence, The Boston Globe, Australian Traveller, Luxury Travel, Departures, Centurion, The Daily Telegraph, World Traveller, The Independent, CNN Travel and Time Out, among others.
A versatile writer and seasoned traveller, my stories span all continents and topics from destination features, city guides and food-focused journeys to insightful explorations of culture and tradition.
I’ve featured as a travel expert on radio, penned city and country guides for Vertu and Virgin, and authored A Hedonist’s guide to Sydney and the 2013 and 2014 Wallpaper* city guide to Prague.
From time to time, I lend a hand to clients like Tourism Australia and Dubai Tourism, consulting and writing across a mix of editorial projects.
Recently, I worked with GSM Project as an English copywriter, writing content for the Shindagha Museums project in the historic creekside district of Dubai.
